What is MUN?
The Academy Model United Nations Conference is a three-day event for high school students, by high school students, intended to encourage interest in international issues. Participants assume the role of delegates in the United Nations and other international organizations, and learn to think as policy-makers and peace-makers in todays global society. The students also gain an understanding of the actual procedures used by the United Nations and other organizations though a strict adherence to Parliamentary Procedure during committee sessions.
AMUN Objectives
- To create an environment that will foster an educational and exciting experience in international affairs
- To allow all students to engage in conflict resolution and negotiation activities
- To familiarize students with Parliamentary Procedure and other international organizations procedures
- To facilitate participants education of global policy, negotiation, and current issues
- To provide students with an opportunity to learn how the international organizations work, first-hand
