The Korean War Crisis
The Korean War is often called the forgotten war due to its place between the historic World War II and the heavily controversial Vietnam War. However, the Southeast Asian ideological battle between capitalism and communism began in the country of Korea. In this committee, you will enter post World War II Korea as a member of a top-secret strategy meeting between high-level Republic of Korean (South Korean) and American officials. This group will have the power to rewrite the history of the Korean war, yielding diplomatic, humanitarian, and military resources in order to make decisions on a global scale. The Chinese have just finished their civil war and are ready to spread communism, the Soviet Union is continuing its support of North Korea, the United States reluctantly allies with Dictator Syngman Rhee in South Korea, and the Republic of Korea has only just resolved its own partisan issues. Most importantly, Kim II-Sung, the leader of North Korea, is ready to attack. October 1949 is a tumultuous time: the future of Korea is up to you.
