Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL)Chairs: Harnoor Sachar and Krystal Jiang Email: kryjia24@bergen.org Topic A: Dangers of Space Debris As the world continues to make advancements in space exploration, the international community needs to take into account the dangers associated with space debris. Since the 1950s, the international community has sent thousands of rockets and satellites into orbit, and as we leave remnants of those spacecrafts floating around unattended, there is a huge risk involved. Collisions between satellites, anti-satellite testing, and collisions with space debris all contribute to this ongoing issue. Delegates will be tasked with finding solutions to minimize the space debris produced while also preventing damage to already existing space crafts such as the International Space Station. This is a novice committee intended for those who are new to Model UN. Delegates who have attended one or fewer conferences prior can register for this committee or any of our other non-novice committees. We ask those who have attended more than one conference to please register for one of our other committees in order to keep this novice committee fair for all delegates. ![]()
