Liza Ponomarenko


Secretary General

Liza Ponomarenko is the Secretary General of the 2010 Academy Model United Nations Conference. She is a senior in the Academy of Business and Finance and has been actively participating in Model UN since her freshman year. Liza competed as a delegate in NATO and UNCTAD in previous AMUN conferences, winning Outstanding and Best Delegate awards respectively. Last year, she chaired the SPECPOL committee. Throughout her high school career, Liza has also participated in college conferences hosted at universities such as Georgetown, Yale, Princeton, and George Washington winning numerous Best and Outstanding Delegate awards.

Outside of her commitment to Model UN, for the 2009-2010 year, Liza has been selected as a Varsity Debate Team captain, Co-President for the French Honor Society and the Promotions Director for the Class Council. She was also selected a scholar in the New Jersey Governor School of International Studies. A certified black belt in Taekwondo, Liza is also dedicated to martial arts, National Honor Society, and BCA Teens for the Cure, serving in many cabinet positions over the years.

Liza hopes to pursue Economics and International Affairs. She is very excited for the 2010 Academy Model United Nations and looks forward to many debates, agreements and solutions.
