However, this has led to concerns amongst the leaders of the world and UNOOSA about the safety of specific countries having access to space. Moreover, with increasing advancement of space technology, there is much concern about the security, weaponization, and peaceful use of outer space. For instance, even years after the supposed Space Race, there continues to be a competition between global superpowers in making the newest advancements in space and weaponizing technology first to utilize it as an expansive frontier. Namely, many under-resourced countries are siding with the United States or China, dividing the world on Earth and in the universe. However, as the world continues to expand its horizons to Mars, the sun, and even other galaxies, the threat of weaponizing space technologies continues to exist as a threat. Delegates in this committee will find themselves navigating the complex issues of country policy, state security interests, and global stability, while also striving to develop cooperation between nation-states.
